Downton Beginners Brass – relaunch 2021
Do you want to learn a musical instrument? Do your children want to learn a musical instrument?
Downton Training Band and Beginners Brass offer everyone a chance to learn brass and drums with expert tuition and lots of fun along the way. And all done in a Covid secure environment, risk assessed to Department of Digital, Culture Media and Sport guidelines.
Our Beginners Brass group meets every Monday during term time from 6pm whilst our Training Band meets every Wednesday during term time at 6.15pm for an hour and everyone is welcome. We will provide the tuition, music and expertise plus we’ll even lend you an instrument!
Beginners Brass is designed for people who wish to start playing – we can teach you from scratch. And then when you progress a bit and can play a few notes and start to read music we encourage you to join our Training Band.
And once you feel confident you can also come along and join our ‘just for fun’ Downton Jubilee Brass or the Downton Senior Band.
All you need to bring is yourself and your enthusiasm! We welcome people of any age and we particularly encourage families to come along and learn together – parents - you all get so much more out of it if you learn an instrument at the same time as your children!
For 2021/22 our first rehearsals back after the summer are: Beginners Brass 6th September – Training Band 8th September.
About Downton Training/Beginners Bands
- It’s for everyone aged 5 to 106!
- We provide tuition from fully qualified and highly experienced musicians and teachers, including Downton Band’s Musical Director Paul Williams
- All our tutors are fully DBS (CRB) checked
- We will loan you an instrument for free!*
- We hold weekly rehearsals in our own band hall at the heart of our village
- We are open to complete beginners as well as those wanting to pick up music again after a break
- It costs just £1 per week but the first taster session is free! No-one is excluded - in genuine cases of hardship, help with part or all of the subscription is available
- There are lots of great performance opportunities throughout the year!
